Meet Charita
Charita and her mother
Charita R. Montgomery Bivens is the founder of Daughters of Mom Angels, LLC. After graduating from Hillside High School she pursued her dream of becoming a Spelman woman by attending Spelman College where she studied biology and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biology in 2010. She truly has a strong love for Spelman, often stating that attending Spelman was one of the best decisions of her life.
Shortly after graduating from Spelman, Charita’s mother, Juanita Montgomery, was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer; a diagnosis that changed Charita and her families life forever. Since the age of 3, Charita, had a passion and desire to pursue a career in healthcare but it was during the time of helping to care for her mother that she found an interest in the Physician Assistant career and in 2016 she graduated from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program.
In 2012, Charita’s mother, passed away after a 2 year journey of living with colorectal cancer. Charita often refers to that day as the worst day of her life and it was at that time, at the age of 24 years old, that Charita found herself feeling alone and confused as to how she would navigate living without her mother on Earth. She ultimately had to learn how to live as an angel daughter. Charita and her mother were very close and the best of friends who did so much together and often talked on the phone 3-4 times a day.. The first year was a rough journey but with the help of God, support from her dad and other family members and through counseling she made it through. Since that time she has found that there are so many other women who find themselves in the same situation she did and are looking for a source of encouragement.
Charita currently resides in Raleigh, NC and practices as an oncology physician assistant. In her free time she loves to sing, dance, shop, travel, do craft projects and spend time with her husband, Joshua. She is a firm believer that the lost of a mother is something that you never fully get over, it’s just something you learn to live with and that process takes time. It is her hope and prayer that through sharing her stories and other’s through the blogs and this group that angel daughters will be encouraged and able to connect with other women building a community. As she treasures her mom and the special relationship between a mother and daughter, she also hopes to honor moms, the mother-daughter relationship and to provide ways that daughters and moms can create lasting memories together like she did with her mom.
